Structure + Shine FAQ

Time should be determined on an individual basis. A face-to-face consultation is required to look at the hair length, type and texture and assess whether your hair is suitable for this treatment.

Please allow a 1-to-4-hour window for this service depending on the hair.

What results can be expected after the treatment?

This is a texture transformation from frizzy to smooth silky hair. It debulks the hair whilst giving the hair a natural shine. It is recommended to take special care of the style at home and to avoid pinning, tying or washing the hair on the 3 days after the service.

Can the treatment be done on chemically treated hair, previously relaxed or straightened hair?

It is recommended against any chemical treatment such as colour, until after 7 days post treatment to ensure the product is not lifted/compromised.

This depends on the individual client. The level of lightning and condition of the hair will determine whether you can have this service, you will be given an incompatibility test to ensure this treatment is right for you. We also recommend that you don’t have your hair coloured fresh before you have this treatment as there is a chance of it stripping the colour and making it lighter.

This can be done on pregnant women, provided you are past the 12-week mark in your pregnancy, due to change in hormones. This product is not recommended for the use on Afro-Caribbean hair.

How many days after the treatment before the hair can get wet or be washed?

We recommend for the best results, to not wash your hair for 72 hours after the treatment, or get the hair wet. Also, to avoid hooking the hair behind the ear, and straighten it if necessary if any of these occur and cause a dent in the hair, this is for optimum results.

Tying your hair back can also leave slight dents in the hair, and we don’t recommend doing this for the first 72 hours if you can help it. After the 72 hours have passed you can do what you like as the hair will be set in its permanent state. If you shower, we do recommend using a shower cap so the moisture doesn’t get to your hair.

What kind of shampoo and conditioner should be used?

We recommend the dual senses Just Smooth range or The Kerasilk shampoo & conditioner.

How often can the treatment be done?

Depending on the regrowth, a full head will be very rare, as it is permanent. Your stylist will be able to advise you on rebooking.

Is the re-application of the treatment done on the entire head or just on the new growth?

The re-application should be done on regrowth; you can book for the regrowth service. This can be done also as a partial service for just fringe, roots, sides etc.

How long will the treatment last?

Permanent. Except for any regrowth that comes through will need doing.

Should the hair be cut before or after the treatment?

Either, depends on what style you would like when the hair is straight. Say for example your hair is very curly and looks much shorter when in its natural state, when it has been chemically straightened the style will look completely different as it will be straight. So therefore, you can do whatever you feel is best for you and the final result.

Will my hair be permanently straight after the treatment?

Yes
